The Capitol: Colonial Williamsburg, April 2004 This is a reconstruction of the Capitol which served as the seat of Colonial government until 1779, when the General Assembly moved to Richmond. The original building was destroyed due to fire in 1747. (via Robby Edwards’ Photos)
