Just Another Rock in the Wall: Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Unit, September 2003 A series of harder rocks sticks out of this formation. These deposits, known as concretions, where formed when erosion stripped away the outer layer of softer material, revealing the denser material. Erosion then transforms these deposits into round shapes.
